Samantha Grant, the estranged half-sister of Meghan Markle, is not happy with how the royal wedding guest list has turned out so far. Earlier this week, Samantha took to Twitter to unleash a series of messages about not receiving an invitation to Meghan and Prince Harry’s May 19 wedding. She also claims that most family members have been left out of the big day, despite someone pointing out that maybe, just maybe, not all invitations have been sent out? Hmm?
Samantha, who uses a wheelchair because of her Multiple Sclerosis, went on to criticize the bride and groom for inviting “complete strangers” over the Markle family. “I have an uncle I have only seen once but I would never say he is not family because we are not close. Humanitarians move forward with love and kindness especially to Family,” she continued.
In March, Kensington Palace announced that in addition to the approximately 600 guests who will get to see Meghan and Harry tie the knot inside St George’s Palace, 2,640 people were invited to watch their arrivals on the grounds of Windsor Castle. The group will include 1,200 members of the public “from every corner of the United Kingdom” nominated by the nine regional Lord Lieutenant offices. In response, Samantha wrote on Twitter this week, “Smoke and mirrors cannot hide the elephant in the room. Out of respect, tradition, and humanitarianism, the #Markles should be invited if 2000 complete strangers are invited. Our uncle who got her the internship, brother, me, best friend of 30 years Nikki Priddy, nephews. Fact.”
One of those nephews, Tyler Dooley, appeared on Good Morning Britain in late-March and had a bit of a ~moment when asked if he was London-bound. “We’ve not got anything yet,” he said on the show. “At this point, who knows? This all goes back to Meghan, it’s her day and her happiness.” His mother, who also appeared on the program, got straight to the point: “I don’t think we are getting invitations. But that is fine. We are so proud of her.” When the duo revealed they hadn’t seen Meghan in years (three for the nephew, 20 for his mom), the host said, “Well, then it doesn’t seem unreasonable for you to not be invited, does it?”
If you must know, Samantha still has hope, at least according to her response to a Joel Osteen tweet.
